Job Title: Field Technician

Location: Remote within Denver Metro area

Employment Type: Temporary, Full Time (W-2), Non-Exempt

Salary Range: $24.00 to $27.00 per hour, depending on experience

Reports To: Project Scientist

Position Overview:

CDH Consulting is seeking a Field Technician to support ongoing field work including soil sampling and groundwater sampling, and other field work as needed as needed. Fieldwork is mainly in the Denver-Julesburg (DJ) Basin; however, the candidate may be required to travel for up to 2 weeks at a time to other project locations as needed.

The preferred applicant for this position will have a background and/or some educational experience in environmental science, engineering, geology, stormwater management, water quality, or a related field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow established scientific protocols to complete environmental inspections.

  • Follow established laboratory protocols for the collection, processing, sampling, analysis and documentation of environmental samples.

  • Collect reliable and accurate field data, organize and transfer data, and help support project management team and project reports.

  • Work with an existing team to complete environmental and regulatory goals.

  • Perform all work with a focus on safety in a field setting.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Possess a valid driver’s license and clean driving record (MVR) that meet Company’s Insurance qualifications to operate Company vehicle.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including MS Outlook, Excel, Word, SharePoint, etc. and use/operation of standard office equipment.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to converse with staff, management, contractors, and operations using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques.

  • Self-motivated and assertive. Comfortable in open discussion with personality ranges from field hands to construction and design groups.

  • Ability to be detail-oriented, set priorities, monitor progress towards goals, and track details, data, information, activities, etc.

  • Good time management and organizational skills to meet set deadlines.

  • Ability to safely operate vehicles, equipment, and tools.

  • Able to recognize and apply safety processes and procedures.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with environmental fieldwork.

  • Prior oil and gas experience – including a basic understanding of equipment and process flow.

  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER or SafeLand 8-hour certification.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 0-2 years experience

The Position May Be Subject To:

  • Extreme cold and heat: temperatures typically below 32° F or above 100° F for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions such as wind, rain, snow, and humidity.

  • Noise: some locations with sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.

  • Hazards: includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to chemicals.

  • Motor vehicle record evaluation and ability to operate a vehicle safely and lawfully.

  • Routine and periodic alcohol and drug testing.

Physical Demands:

  • The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.

  • The employee will minimally lift, push, carry and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Frequent amount of traversing through challenging terrain to evaluate project sites, conditions, manually inspect slopes or perform work.

Travel Requirements:

  • Overnight travel may be required to other locations – up to 20% of the time.

  • Regular travel to Company’s field operations. Approximately 90% of time in field, typically within 2 hours of the Denver area.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Temporary Employment Notice:

This position is classified as temporary and does not guarantee continued employment beyond the stated assignment duration. Employment with CDH Consulting is at-will, which means either the employee or CDH may terminate employment at any time, with or without cause or notice..
